Lucasfilm aired a full-length trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Monday night, giving chills to Star Wars geeks everywhere and leaving football fans with the difficult choice: Light or Dark Side.

The 2 minute and 35 second preview aired during halftime of "Monday Night Football" on ESPN, which like Lucasfilm, is owned by Disney.

The trailer, which previews the seventh installment in the Star Wars film canon, features dramatic battle scenes and cameos of beloved characters Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca all over a classic John Williams score.

It also sets up the arc of the film: a defection from the Dark Side by new lead character Finn, played by John Boyega, aided by new female lead, Rey, played by Daisy Ridley.

The trailer was timed to coincide with the sale of advance tickets for the Dec. 18 release of the film, which picks up some 30 years after the plot of "Return of the Jedi."
