There are a slew of Easter eggs in the new “Superman” movie, but Rachel Brosnahan is bringing attention to some of her favorites.

Brosnahan, who portrays the Daily Planet journalist and Clark Kent’s love interest, Lois Lane, in the 2025 film, tells TODAY.com about how the film honors the family of comic book writer Jerry Siegel, who co-created the character Superman.

“There are a ton of them, so many,” Brosnahan says of the Easter eggs in the film, which hits theaters July 11, before sharing the ones she loves most.

The “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star reveals that a sweet photograph placed right on Lois Lane’s desk has a special meaning. It’s a photo of Jerry Siegel’s wife, Joanne Siegel, who the actor says “inspired the original Lois Lane.”

“I didn’t know that until they told me. You might catch a quick glimpse,” Brosnahan explains.

Joanne Siegel was the real-life model for Lois Lane. Her and Jerry Siegel’s daughter, Laura Siegel Larson, told The New York Times in 2011 that her mom got the gig in the mid-1930s after she placed an ad in a newspaper. The first “Superman” comic book was published in 1938.

“My dad always said he wrote Lois with my mom’s personality in mind,” their daughter added.

Brosnahan also shares that Jerry Siegel’s grandsons, Michael and James Larson, have a “small role” in the movie.

“I didn’t know this at first, but Jerry Siegel’s grandsons are with us in the Daily Planet,” she says, referring to them being seen in the fictional newspaper’s bustling office space at one point.

Beyond family references, David Corenswet, who plays Superman himself in the 2025 film, tells TODAY.com of other Easter eggs fans can expect to see in the movie.

“All the street names in Metropolis are named after comic writers or artists, and all the newspapers have little Easter eggs,” he teases. “There are business names that are from elsewhere in the comics. I think there are maybe some Peacemaker crossover references.”

Corenswet adds that director James Gunn “loves Easter eggs like that,” but that the audience finding them wasn’t an expectation.

“He never wanted it to feel like you had to do homework in order to appreciate the movie,” he says.

However, Corenswet notes that they’re extra fun bits for people who are really paying close attention.
