The trail of clues surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s reported wedding plans now includes a New York City permit filing.

Dora Pekec, a spokesperson for the New York City Mayor’s Office, confirmed that a permit was filed in early June with the city’s Street Activity Permit Office.

Pekec confirmed some details of the permit that were first reported by The New York Times in an article about Swift and Kelce’s possible wedding plans. The article cited three people with knowledge of the matter and a city official briefed on the preparations.

Pekec declined to say who filed the permit and did not provide NBC News with a copy.

A source at MSG told NBC News that the venue has blocked off July 2-4 and is making preparations for a big event. The person declined to be named in order to discuss a confidential matter. It was not clear whether the dates or preparations were being made for the Swift-Kelce wedding. Pekec confirmed street closures around the venue on those dates.

According to the Times report, Winick Productions, an event-planning company, filed the application with the city and requested to set up a tent outside Madison Square Garden for an event of 500 to 999 people. Elliot Winick, the company’s president, declined to comment when reached by NBC News via email. The company also declined to comment to the Times.

The Times, citing the unnamed city official, reported that MSG “is planning to host the wedding festivities on July 3.”

Representatives for Swift, Kelce and MSG did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday.

Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Swift got engaged in August, two years after their whirlwind romance first captivated the internet.

The duo has kept details surrounding their nuptials under wraps, but that hasn’t stopped fan speculation on where the couple might get married.

Rumored locations ranged from Swift’s Rhode Island compound to Madison Square Garden, with fans also guessing that the event would fall sometime during the summer and include a guest list of notable celebrities in Swift’s squad.

At first, MSG — which is in Midtown and above the busy Penn Station — seemed an unlikely choice, with some Swifties questioning the reports that circulated online.

“Does Taylor strike anyone as the type of bride that would get married in a stadium versus some romantic beachside estate or villa in Europe?” one Reddit user wrote. “It’s smoke and mirrors. There’s no way a single detail about her wedding is getting leaked. Not the guests, date, location, nothing.”

But others became convinced that Swift had already dropped some Easter eggs, which the artist is known to do ahead of major announcements and album releases.

Earlier this month, Swift appeared courtside for Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals, cheering for the New York Knicks alongside two of the Haim sisters and Mariska Hargitay.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani also mentioned Swift’s wedding during a news conference in which he addressed the city’s ability to host big events.

“We are the biggest city in the country,” Mamdani said. “We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one. We know it coincides with the Knicks’ Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding — all happening at the same time — and we are so excited to welcome the world here.”

Later during the news conference, when asked whether he was invited to the wedding and whether he’s going, Mamdani said, “No and no,” while laughing.

“I wish them a lovely wedding,” he added. “I’ll listen to ‘Only the Young’ at home on my own.”
