The world of “Hamilton” is about to be turned upside down.
The hip-hop musical's superstar creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, confirmed during a breakfast with reporters Thursday that he will be leaving his Tony Award-winning smash on July 9.
Miranda, 36, announced that his understudy, Javier Muñoz, will get his shot to play the lead role of Alexander Hamilton full time beginning July 11.
Muñoz has served as a stand-in for Miranda during the blockbuster show's run, filling in as Broadway’s favorite founding father every Sunday and whenever Miranda is away, including during a performance attended by Beyoncé and Jay Z.
He also replaced the star when Miranda departed his previous Broadway hit, “In the Heights.”
Muñoz, 40, left the show for several weeks late last year to undergo treatment for cancer, but returned to the show in January.
For his part, Miranda insists he'll be back — time will tell — to remind theatergoers that he served them well.

“I intend to drop in on this thing over and over again. … I want to cut to 20 years from now, when you’re like ‘Lin, when will you stop playing Hamilton,'" he told Entertainment Weekly earlier this week.
Miranda also announced that before he officially exits the show, the original cast — which includes three performers who took home acting trophies at last Sunday's Tony Awards — will film a performance of the show, but did not say what they planned to do with that recording.
Miranda, meanwhile, will be exiting the Great White Way for Hollywood, when he begins filming the "Mary Poppins" sequel set to hit theaters in 2018. He also wrote the music for the Disney animated feature "Moana," which will be released in November and includes the voice of fellow "Hamilton" castmate Phillipa Soo.
