Jax Taylor, who has been a mainstay on Bravo reality television for over a decade, will not return for season three of “The Valley” to focus on his sobriety and mental health.

"After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of 'The Valley,'" Taylor said in a statement provided by his representatives.

"Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting relationship," Taylor said. "Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz."

US Weekly first reported Taylor's departure.

Ahead of the season two premiere in April, Taylor, 46, revealed his on-and-off battle with cocaine addiction for more than two decades. The ongoing journey with sobriety and mental health has been a significant plotline of the current season, as well as the fallout of his split with Brittany Cartwright, with whom he shares a 3-year-old son, Cruz.

Taylor’s behavior throughout season two has spurred concern from fans, including a heated on-camera argument with Cartwright before he checked himself into a mental health treatment facility. While he was at the facility, Cartwright and the other castmates received angry texts from Taylor.

"I don’t even recognize who you are anymore," Cartwright said during the argument before Taylor’s departure to the treatment center. "Jax, you scared me!"

Representatives for Taylor did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Bravo said it had no comment.

It is not the first time Taylor has left a Bravo show because of his conduct. After eight seasons on “Vanderpump Rules,” on which Taylor was known for his brash and toxic behavior, he was ousted from the reality show. Cartwright, who was pregnant at the time, also did not return for season nine of “Vanderpump Rules.”

"The last 8 years on Vanderpump Rules have been some of the most challenging, rewarding and fulfilling years of my life," Taylor said in a December 2020 post on Instagram alongside photos from his time on the show. "Although this is difficult to share, Brittany and I will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules. We are excited to take this time to focus on our growing family and share with you our new endeavors.”

"Thank you to all the fans who have shared our journey with us and supported us through everything. We love you," he added at the time.

Cartwright filed for divorce last year while she was filming season two of "The Valley," citing “irreconcilable differences.” The season two finale is set to air Tuesday on Bravo. Taylor is set to appear at the show’s reunion.

Bravo is owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News.
