Stacey Hatfield, an Australian nutritionist and food influencer who championed a toxin-free lifestyle, died after giving birth at home, her husband said in a post on Instagram. She was 30.
In an emotional tribute, Nathan Warnecke said his “wife, soulmate and best friend” passed away on Sept. 29. She had successfully delivered their firstborn son, Axel, when, he wrote, “an unforeseen and extremely rare complication arose.” Warnecke said Hatfield was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors made every effort to save her, but she did not survive.
“It was her life’s biggest dream to be a mom,” Warnecke wrote. “On her terms, exactly the way she always dreamed of doing it. She loved being pregnant and, over the last 9 months, told our son she loved him everyday.”
He went on to describe the moment their son made his entrance into the world.
“She held Axel when he was born, nursed him, saw that he was a boy and loved him,” Warnecke shared. “She loved him so much and still continues to love him.”
“If there’s one thing that i can try and reconcile in this horrible time is that her last moments on earth were the happiest i’ve ever seen her,” he added.
Nathan described Hatfield as a “child of the universe” who sought only to live a simple, stress-free life. “She was most at home in nature, surrounded by trees and sand at her feet,” he said, noting that she had no interest in material possessions.
Hatfield was best known for her business Natural Spoonfuls, which encourages people to eat whole foods and choose natural, chemical-free products as part of a mindful approach to health.
A GoFundMe page organized by Axel’s uncle, Jon Downie, noted that Hatfield and Warnecke were just two months away from celebrating their first wedding anniversary.
