Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub last year, died as a result of being immersed in water and a drug intoxication, according to a medical examiner.
The results of her autopsy were made public Friday — on what would have been her 23rd birthday.
Brown — the only daughter of late pop icon Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown — had been placed in a medically induced coma after she was found by her boyfriend in her suburban Atlanta townhouse on Jan. 31, 2015. She died in hospice care in July.
Brown's death is eerily similar to that of Houston, who was found dead in her Beverly Hills hotel suite bathtub in 2012 at age 48.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office said alcohol and marijuana played a part in Brown's death, as well as morphine and medications used for sedation or treating anxiety found in her body.
The medical examiner could not determine if the morphine was related to any heroin use.

The official statement on the cause of death was released after a judge on Thursday granted a media request for access to her autopsy report.
State officials argued it should be kept private as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into what happened.
The conservator of Brown's estate claims Brown was drugged with a "toxic cocktail" and drowned in a tub of cold water by Gordon, according to an amended civil lawsuit filed in August.
Gordon's lawyer has denied the allegations in the suit as "meritless."
While the medical examiner said Brown did not die from natural causes, her manner of death remains undetermined, leaving open the possibility of homicide or suicide.
A lawyer for Bobby Brown, who had been in a dispute with Houston's family over the handling of his daughter while she was in a coma, called the release of her autopsy results "unsettling" as the investigation continues.

"Bobby Brown has had to be strong and mourn his loved ones in a fashion that is foreign to most people. So public, so raw, with apparently no end in sight," attorney Christopher Brown said in a statement. "Hopefully public indictments and prosecution will lead to private healing and closure for Bobby Brown and his family."
Bobby Brown said his daughter will live on in "my heart and soul," and said releasing autopsy information "before anyone has been brought to justice for her death is mind blowing to me."
"Please pray for my family," he said in a statement.
