Selena Gomez mildly poked fun at “Only Murders in the Building” co-star Martin Short, joking earlier this week that the vertically challenged actor will be the ring bearer at her upcoming nuptials.
Gomez, Short and Steve Martin were on the "Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" couch when Martin appeared to joke about not receiving his invitation yet to her wedding.
"Yeah, I'm sure our invites will arrive any day," Martin sarcastically quipped.
Fallon seized on the topic and asked Gomez if Martin and Short are invited.
"Of course, they are," Gomez said. "Marty's the ring bearer."
Short — who has been listed in media reports as anywhere from 5-foot-6 1/2 to 5-8 — didn't seem bothered by the zinger. A ceremony's ring bearer is often a job reserved for a young boy or girl.
Short got on a knee and did his best impression of Gollum from "The Lord of the Rings."
“Here’s your ring, Selena,” Short said. “Take it.”
Short fired back moments later in comedic shot that might have not have landed as harmlessly as intended.
"We are all so excited because we love this lady and we love her fiancé, Bad Bunny," Short said.
As the studio audience roared in laughter, Gomez turned stoned-faced, perhaps comically, and clapped back: "Benny Blanco!"
The Bad Bunny/Blanco joke has been going on for months, after the Oscars X account mistook Gomez's partner with the Puerto Rican rapper.
"That's different people?" Martin said.
"Kind of the same," Short added.
If there was any bad blood on this topic, then Fallon nimbly changed subjects to bring up Martin's 80th birthday, which drew applause and smiles from Gomez.
