Katherine Short, the daughter of actor Martin Short, has died, a representative for the actor said Tuesday. She was 42.
“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short," the representative said in a statement. "The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Los Angeles police sources told NBC Los Angeles that authorities found her at her Hollywood home Monday night after a friend requested a welfare check. The friend hadn't heard from her in more than 24 hours and was concerned, the station reported.
Officers found a note on the door and Katherine Short inside the home, the station reported. She appeared to have died by suicide, the police sources told the station.
Martin Short’s wife of nearly three decades, Nancy Dolman, died in 2010 of cancer. He has two other children.
