Alec Baldwin said he and his brother are "fine" after he crashed the car he was driving in the Hamptons on Monday.

In a video on Instagram, Baldwin said he was driving with his brother Stephen Baldwin in his wife's car in East Hampton, a town in Long Island, New York, when a large garbage truck caused him to veer off the road and hit a tree.

East Hampton police said in a statement that the incident, which involved a white 2023 Range Rover, occurred around 12:01 p.m. Monday on State Route 27. Police confirmed Baldwin's story, saying the car "struck a tree on the Eastbound shoulder of the roadway while avoiding the turning action of a 2020 Mack commercial truck, registered to National Waste Services out of Bay Shore, NY."

"There were no injuries reported or summons issued and the contributing factors to the accident were found to be a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery and wet roadway conditions," the statement said.

A representative for Alec Baldwin did not respond to a request for comment.

The Baldwin brothers were in town over the weekend for the Hamptons International Film Festival, Alec Baldwin said.

Baldwin said in the Instagram video that while he was driving in East Hampton on Monday morning, a "garbage truck the size of a whale" cut him off on the road.

"To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree," Baldwin said, crushing his wife's car in the process. He said the car is "pretty smashed up" after it hit the "big, fat tree."

"That's all fine, and I'm fine, and my brother's fine," he said. He added that he is now headed to Los Angeles to see his family.

Baldwin took time in the video to thank the East Hampton Police Department and the officer who helped him and his brother. He also congratulated everyone involved in the Hamptons Film Festival.
