The White House on Friday continued to dismiss the merits of a Republican-led lawsuit against President Barack Obama for delaying the employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act.

“It is our view that this is nothing more than a taxpayer funded political stunt,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.

House Speaker John Boehner on Thursday released a draft of the resolution that would authorize a lawsuit against the president for not faithfully executing laws passed by Congress. The lawsuit will focus on the administration’s decision in 2013 to delay the requirement for some employers to provide health care coverage for employers.

Earnest declined to comment on the specifics of the resolution. He said the president was made aware of the draft yesterday afternoon and nothing has changed his belief it is a politically motived stunt ahead of the midterm elections.
