The White House was on lockdown for over an hour Thursday afternoon after an unattended package was found along the north fence line, according to a Secret Service official.
Lafayette Park -- which is across the street from the White House -- was also cleared.
The Secret Service was investigating and reopened the White House around 5:20 p.m.
