A visibly frustrated President Barack Obama on Friday called attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch’s stalled confirmation a “crazy situation” that is “embarrassing” for the U.S. Senate.

“There are times when the dysfunction in the Senate goes too far. This is an example of it,” Obama said during a press conference with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. “Enough.”

A Senate battle over an abortion provision in sex-trafficking bill has held up Lynch’s confirmation. Obama announced her as his pick to succeed current Attorney General Eric Holder on Nov. 8 of last year.

“This is embarrassing,” Obama added.
