Join the NBC Politics team Tuesday afternoon for a Google+ Hangout previewing the second debate between President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Romney enters the debate in Hempstead, N.Y. looking for a repeat of his strong outing in his first debate versus Obama earlier this month. But the president's campaign has vowed that Obama would show more aggression in his second showdown versus Romney.

 

What do both candidates need to accomplish? What are the risks and rewards of tonight's town hall format? And how will the second debate set the stage for the campaign's home stretch?

NBC's Shawna Thomas and Ali Weinberg, who cover Obama and the White House, will join NBC's Romney embed, Garrett Haake, in previewing the debate. Evan McMorris-Santoro of TalkingPointsMemo and The Daily Caller's Matt Lewis will round out the crew, offering analysis and insight.
