Potential 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton lunched with President Barack Obama Thursday, the White House confirmed after a tweet from People magazine tipped reporters off to the “informal” meeting.
"The President enjoyed an informal, private lunch with Secretary Clinton at the White House this afternoon," a White House official told a pool reporter.
The meeting didn’t appear on the president’s public schedule, but reporters learned of the lunch after People Magazine tweeted about an interview with the former First Lady before the two leaders were set to huddle.
That tweet was deleted and then later restored on Thursday afternoon.
The pair met when Vice President Joe Biden, a possible Clinton rival for the 2016 nomination, was traveling on the west coast for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser.
