Republicans will nominate their next presidential candidate in either a critical battleground state or in the heart of one of the most conservative states in the country.
The Republican National Committee on Wednesday announced Cleveland, Ohio and Dallas, Texas are the finalists to host the 2016 convention.
“These world class cities know how to roll out the welcome mat,” RNC Site Selection Committee Chairwoman Enid Mickelsen said in a statement. “And more importantly they have the ability to provide our next presidential nominee a launching pad that will put a Republican in the White House in 2016.”
Denver and Kansas City were also among the final four potential host cities. Cincinnati, Ohio and Las Vegas withdrew their bids in May.
