Ann Romney, the wife of former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, says the whole family is “done” with presidential runs.
“Done,” she told LA Times reporter Maeve Reston in an interview. “Completely. Not only Mitt and I are done, but the kids are done. Done. Done. Done.”
Mrs. Romney says she’s focused on a bigger project now: a huge new research facility focused on treating and curing neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s and multiple sclerosis – which she herself suffered from before it was driven into remission. She hopes to raise $50 million to jumpstart major research at the Ann Romney Center for Neurological Diseases in Boston.
Despite reports as recent as Tuesday indicating that some GOP donors are still trying to “nudge” her husband into the race, she reiterated the no-go message in an interview with NBC’s Today Show.
‘We are having no serious conversations about it,” she told NBC’s Maria Shriver. “Because we said at the end we will never do this again. It was hard. We’ve done it. We’ve had our turn.”
