Jeb Bush's spokesperson says the former Florida governor still has "not yet made a decision" about whether he'll run for president in 2016.
Spokeswoman Kristy Campbell tells NBC News: "Governor Bush has not yet made a decision on whether or not he will run in 2016. He will thoughtfully consider it following the mid-term elections, and make a decision late this year or in the early part of next year. "
Bush's son, George P. Bush, seemed to suggest in an interview with ABC's Jonathan Karl that his father is leaning towards a run.
Here is the relevant portion of that interview:
KARL: So is your dad going to run for president?BUSH: I think he's still assessing it.KARL: Do you think it's more than 50 percent, less than 50 percent?BUSH: I think it's -- it's more than likely that he's giving this a serious thought and moving -- and moving forward...KARL: More than likely that he'll run?BUSH: That he'll run. If you had asked me a few years back, I -- I would have said it was less likely and a...KARL: So the family will be behind him 100 percent?BUSH: The family will be behind him 100 percent if he decides to do it.
