At least one member of the Biden family is running in 2016.
Beau Biden, the attorney general of Delaware and the son of Vice President Joe Biden, won't seek reelection to his AG post and will instead run for governor in 2016, he announced Thursday.
"Over the past few months, as I’ve been planning to run for reelection, I have also been giving a great deal of thought to running for Governor in 2016. What started as a thought -- a very persistent thought -- has now become a course of action that I wish to pursue," he said in an email to supporters.
The state's current governor, Democrat Jack Markell, is term limited. Beau Biden passed on a run for his father's Senate seat in 2010; that race was ultimately won by Democrat Chris Coons.
The younger Biden suffered a mild stroke in 2010 and was hospitalized last August after feeling disoriented, but he was issued a "clean bill of health" by a top Texas neuro-oncologist in November. He is 45.
Vice President Joe Biden has not announced whether he will seek the presidency in 2016.
