Senate Republicans on Thursday said they are not yet ready to vote on Loretta Lynch’s nomination as attorney general, delaying a committee vote on the president’s choice to head the Justice Department until later this month.

The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, will not vote on Lynch until Congress returns from its Presidents' Day recess the last week of February.

Democrats have condemned Republicans for delaying the nomination, citing the speed in which Ash Carter's nomination for Secretary of Defense is being processed. Carter is expected to be confirmed by the Senate Thursday afternoon.

Despite the delay, Lynch's nomination is expected to pass out of the committee and the full Senate is expected to confirm her.
