Wisconsin governor and former 2016 Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker will endorse one of his old rivals on Tuesday.
The decision, announced in a press release from “Friends of Scott Walker,” will be announced on Newsradio WTMJ and comes one week before the Wisconsin primary.
Walker recently indicated he was deciding between Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich. He also said Cruz is the only remaining GOP candidate who can defeat Donald Trump in the race for the nomination.
Walker took a number of thinly veiled shots at Trump when he ended his campaign last September, saying he has been “called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive conservative message can rise to the top of the field.”
Walker entered the 2016 race as an early frontrunner who had won three elections in a traditionally Democratic leaning state. But gaffes and fundraising troubles caused his poll numbers to drop and he exited the race well before voters in the early primary states went to the polls.
