With just over two weeks until Election Day, it’s important to stay optimistic. And the electoral map Donald Trump’s campaign released Monday is just about as optimistic as it gets. As one of us (!!) notes, the battleground map included in the memo not only assumes red states like Georgia, Arizona and Missouri are safely in hand, but also marks other keys states that are trending blue as tossups. Our NBC News battle ground map shows Colorado, Virginia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan all leaning Democrat, while the Trump campaign assesses they’re still up for grabs. Overall, Team Trump says it has 191 electoral votes, compared to 197 for Clinton and 150 still in play. And it’s not just NBC News’ map that conflicts with the Trump campaign. Most outside experts and polling suggest the race is in a drastically different place than what the Trump campaign says it is.
