BEDFORD, N.H. — Sen. Elizabeth Warren did not hold back against Donald Trump on Saturday, continuing her tirade against the presumptive Republican nominee’s business history and calling him a "thin-skinned, racist bully."
Warren, the senator from Massachusetts, gave the keynote address at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s Convention, as delegates gathered to hear state leaders rally support and consider a number of resolutions.
She seemed to relish in her ongoing role as an anti-Trump attack dog, a position she has built based on a series of tweets and increasing public speeches blasting the real estate mogul.
“Donald Trump says he likes to see women on their knees,” she said. “Well, Donald, that’s not happening. Can you believe this guy? Democrats believe in equal pay for equal work and a woman’s right to decisions over her own body. And we’re ready to fight for it.”
Warren ripping into Trump has stirred up vice presidential speculation about her, chatter that increased when she visited presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign headquarters in Brooklyn on Friday.
She took straight aim at Trump’s business practices on Saturday, repeating charges that she also launched at the American Constitution Society conference in Washington, D.C., last week.
“Now Trump University failed, and that’s no surprise,” Warren said in New Hampshire. “Think about all the other Trump failures. Trump casinos. Trump Airlines. Trump steaks. Trump magazines. Trump vodka. Trump Mortgage. Trump Games. Trump Travel. Trump Ice. Trump Network. Donald Trump is a proven businessman — a proven failure.”
She mentioned that aspects of the Trump University lawsuits are causing him to shake “in his high-priced Italian loafers, begging the court to protect him, terrified about what happens if those videos go public and he is held accountable. Are you scared Donald? Well, you should be! We're coming.”
Trump himself has gone on the offensive against Warren, calling her "goofy" and poking fun of the controversy over her Native American heritage by nicknaming her Pocahontas.
"She’s got about as much Indian blood as I have. Her whole life was based on a fraud," he previously told The New York Times. "She got into Harvard and all that because she said she was a minority."
Warren on Saturday wasn’t alone among the Democratic speakers slamming the presumptive Republican nominee at the convention.
"Are you scared Donald? Well, you should be! We're coming.”
New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan, who is locked in a competitive Senate race with incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte, lauded Warren for how she is “taking on Donald Trump, dismantling his racist, sexist, and hateful campaign one tweet at a time.”
Hassan tried to tie Trump to Ayotte, asking, “Is there anything Trump could do to lose Kelly Ayotte’s support? Probably not.”
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen also aimed to link Ayotte with Trump, alluding to Ayotte’s earlier claim that she would support Trump but not endorse him: “If you are a Republican leader and you say you support Donald Trump but don’t endorse him, give me a break — you just endorsed him!”
Shaheen added that she didn’t want the nation turned over to Trump, whom she labeled a “racist bully.”
