The Clinton Foundation will no longer accept foreign and corporate donations if Hillary Clinton is elected president, NBC News confirms.
The future of the Clinton Foundation had been a major question heading into November. Clinton’s critics have targeted the charitable organization’s overseas work and foreign donations, questioning if support for the group was ever a way to gain favor from the former secretary of state.
The Clinton Global Initiative meeting will be terminated regardless of the outcome of the election, the Associated Press reports.
Also, an aide to former President Bill Clinton told NBC News he will no longer give paid speeches if his wife becomes president, and has no plans to do any more before Election Day.
The Clinton Foundation plans to shift its objectives over the next year, the AP reports. The group will only accept contributions from U.S. citizens and independent charities.
