Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) still has more than 13 months to go before he faces voters again, but he's nervous enough about his chances that he's already airing a new television ad.
* In New Jersey, with six weeks remaining until Election Day, Quinnipiac shows Gov. Chris Christie (R) leading Barbara Buono (D) by a wide margin, 64% to 30%.
* In Alabama's 1st congressional district, former state Sen. Bradley Byrne and businessman Dean Young were the top two candidates in yesterday's Republican primary and will advance to a Nov. 5 runoff election. It's a deep "red" district, so the winner of the primary is expected to become the congressman.
* Mitt Romney may have lost Virginia in last year's presidential election, but as the failed candidate pushes himself back into the spotlight, he's still headlining a private fundraising reception for Ken Cuccinelli (R) today in an upscale D.C. suburb.
* On a related note, Cuccinelli's campaign apparently gets quite a few questions about "sodomy," to the point that it's a major heading on the fact-checking portion of the candidate's website.
* A group of Republicans tried to draft Newt Gingrich into running for the U.S. Senate in Georgia, but yesterday, the former Speaker's lawyer told the activists to stop asking and stop using Gingrich's likeness in their materials.
* In Massachusetts, Public Policy Polling found state A.G. Martha Coakley (D) faring quite well in the upcoming gubernatorial race, leading the Democratic field and easily leading the likely Republican nominee in a hypothetical match-up.
