American citizens in Uganda are being warned to shelter in place and remain alert after Ugandan authorities on Saturday reported the discovery of a terrorist cell, which may have been planning an "imminent attack." Several terrorists with the group al Shabab were apprehended in Kampala on Saturday during an operation, but others may be at large, according to Daniel Travis, a public affairs officer at the U.S. Embassy in Uganda.

"We remain in close contact with our Ugandan counterparts as investigations continue into what appears to have been planning for an imminent attack," the U.S. Embassy said a statement. Authorities were unaware of a specific target site, but security at "key sites" was increased, according to the Embassy. "We urge that you exercise all possible caution, remaining at home or in a safe location until the all clear is issued," the statement said.
