A U.S. Air Force F-15 fighter jet crashed during a training exercise in England Thursday but the pilot ejected safely, defense officials said. The aircraft, based at Lakenheath Air Base in Suffolk, crashed near the town of Spalding, Lincolnshire.
The pilot was safe, said TSgt Sasha Michaud, a spokeswoman for Lakenheath Air Base. The cause of the crash is under investigation, U.S. defense officials said. Lincolnshire Police described the pilot's injuries as "minor."
