The bus was transporting students from a vocational school in the Turkeyfoot Valley School District when the two vehicles collided along Route 281 in Upper Turkeyfoot Township about 75 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, WPXI said. The local coroner and six medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene on Route 281 in Somerset County.
Dozens were injured in the crash, including two adults and three students, WPXI said.
One person was taken to Children's Hospital and 17 people were taken to Somerset Hospital for treatment. Hospital officials said no one is seriously injured but some would have to stay overnight for observation.
Twenty-two students who were not injured were taken from the scene in another bus, authorities said.
State police said the students on the bus were in 10th, 11th and 12th grades.
"I heard it happen," a witness told WTAE TV. "I was outside measuring, and I didn't look down right away. I thought something fell off the truck or something. It was a huge explosion, just like a big cannon."
