Travel photo of the day: View from Cinque Terre

NBC News Clone summarizes the latest on: Travel Photo Day View Cinque Terre Flna535661 - Breaking News | NBC News Clone. This article is rewritten and presented in a simplified tone for a better reader experience.

Italy's Cinque Terre region, a cluster of villages along the country's northwestern coast, is famous for its pastel houses and gorgeous views.

Amelia Schroeder, who visited the area in August 2011, took this picture of a typical hillside view. She spent two days there hiking the trails that connect the several villages.

Schroeder visited just before flooding and mudslides devastated the region, closing business and trails. We're happy to report, though, that Cinque Terre is recovering. (See: Italy's Cinque Terre region readies for spring tourists).

The famous “Via dell’Amore” (“Love’s path”) trail is open and tour companies plan to continue offering guided walking and hiking trips this spring.
