Charles Casey, along with his wife and friends, visited Kauai to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. They stopped at a popular vantage point to take in the Kalalau Valley, one of the signature sights of the island.
While they were taking in the view, a rainstorm started to move into the valley behind them. If they had arrived 10 minutes later, they would have been standing in a downpour — with no photo of a rainbow over the valley. Timing and luck are a photographer's hope.
