A man has been arrested after the torso of a female was found in a London canal, local media reported Wednesday. The body, found Tuesday in Regents Canal, is feared to be that of missing TV actress Gemma McCluskie, 29, and the man arrested is believed to be her brother Tony McCluskie, the BBC reported.
"At this early stage officers believe they know the identity of the victim but must await further forensic tests before formal identification can take place," a police spokeswoman told the Guardian.
The Guardian said that the arms, legs and head of the unclothed body had been hacked off before it was discovered.
McCluskie, who vanished on March 1, in 2001 appeared on "EastEnders," a popular BBC soap opera.
