Toronto’s scandal-plagued mayor underwent multiple CT scans of his abdomen and chest, a biopsy and an ultrasound exam Thursday after being transferred to a second hospital for treatment of a suspected tumor. But his diagnosis and prognosis remain a mystery. “We are still in a holding pattern,” said Dr. Zane Cohen, a colorectal surgeon at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Cohen did not speculate on the cause of exact nature of the suspected tumor, but he said the mayor was “resting comfortably” and that he was “surrounded by family members.” The politician had been admitted to another medical facility, Humber River Hospital, on Wednesday after complaining of abdominal pain.

Ford is in the midst of a re-election campaign, which he decided to mount even after admitting to a string of misdeeds, including smoking crack and being drunk on the job. He did a stint in rehab over the summer.
