Well-known poker aficionado Tobey Maguire is named in a suit surrounding a multi-million dollar, illegal poker game. The suit was filed in United States Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles in March, Radar reports.
Maguire allegedly won more than $300,000 from Brad Ruderman, a Beverly Hills hedge fund manager who reportedly embezzled investor funds and orchestrated a ponzi scheme to pay off his debts. Some of that money was used during the poker games.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon also played in the poker games, but they are not named in the suit.
The games were "exclusive events, by invitation only, and there was a regular roster of players consisting of wealthy celebrities, entrepreneurs, attorneys and businessmen," according to the lawsuit filed against Maguire. Ruderman lost $311,300 to the "Spider-Man" film star, including one losing hand of $110,000, on July 30, 2007, it's claimed.
