News came out today that Kat Von D got a tattoo of Jesse James' fifth-grade face. And ... then they broke up.
Does it never occur to stars to tread lightly where permanent ink is involved? We know that those in relationships can never envision the romance ending, but wouldn't a nice framed photo of his fifth-grade face have served just as well until, you know, maybe more than a year has passed? According to E! Online, she didn't really want to talk about it, even storming out of a Los Angeles morning show when the subject came up.
It started us thinking about a few other celebrity tattoos that didn't seem so smart in the light of day.
1) Wino Forever!
Probably the most famous bad-idea tattoo but also the best alteration. Johnny Depp had "Winona Forever" added to his bicep to honor his love for Winona Ryder. When they broke up, he changed it to "Wino Forever."
2) Coming up Roses
Tom Arnold had Roseanne Barr's face tattooed on his chest and "Rosey" on his bum. In turn, she had "Property of Tom Arnold" tattooed on her thigh. Reportedly, all tattoos have been either lasered off or covered with another tattoo.
3) Running out of room
Angelina Jolie loves tattoos, but we didn't realize just how many of them reflect her past loves. The most famous was "Billy Bob" on her arm (and reportedly also in a "private place"), but reports say she had an "H" tattooed on her wrist for ex Timothy Hutton and got matching Japanese character tattoos with ex Jonny Lee Miller. Lately she's taken to tattooing geographical coordinates marking the many countries in which her kids were born. At least she's unlikely to want to cover those up.
4) You shoulda put a ring on it...oh, wait
Numerous celebs have taken to getting a ring-finger tattoo as a way of permanently representing a wedding ring. Only a piece of jewelry can be taken off, while these ... not so much. Pamela Anderson reportedly changed her ring tattoo of "Tommy" (for Tommy Lee) to read "Mommy." Colin Farrell and his wife also reportedly had ring tattoos (the marriage lasted four months). Jenna Jameson and Portia De Rossi supposedly also got ring tattoos representing relationships that later ended.
