The next Vice President of the United States (at least according to many Republicans/Tea Partiers) delivered a "major speech" on foreign policy today at the Brookings Institution in Washington.

And U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) may have actually improved his chances of being chosen as Mitt Romney's running mate. Not because of the substance in the speech, but because he had a truly veep-like moment.

When he came to the last page of his speech, he realized he didn't have it.

"I left the last page of my speech. Does anyone have my last page?" Rubio said, who delivered the speech without a teleprompter.

That last page of Rubio’s speech included a lengthy quote from former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

“This is why I need this page,” Rubio joked.

Most public speakers, including Ed Schultz, have experienced moments like that and are more than sympathetic to Rubio's challenge.

But here's why it's a big deal:

In a February 2010 speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Rubio joked that a recent blizzard may be the best thing that had happened to our economy in the last 12 months, partly because it kept President Obama from "setting up his teleprompters and announcing new taxes."

Watch the video:

In fact, just about Republican/conservative (including Limbaugh, Palin, Gingrich, Beck and Chrstie) has been fixated for months with President Obama's use of a teleprompter, even though every president since REPUBLICAN Dwight Eisenhower has used it.

Just two weeks ago, Foster Friess, a wealthy Republican who helped fund Rick Santorum's presidential campaign, said he hoped Obama's "teleprompters are bullet-proof."

Should righties end their teleprompter fixation for their own good? Let us know what you think!
