A month ago, Mitt Romney hosted an event in Ohio, in which he criticized the Obama administration failing to get "tough" with China. There was, however, a problem -- the Republican was speaking at a spring-wire company that had benefited directly from Obama getting "tough" with China. Worse, Romney actually criticized the efforts that helped the company.
A month later, Romney's advance teams still aren't doing their homework before scheduling events. Today, the GOP candidate will deliver a speech on the economy, condemning President Obama's Recovery Act at a business that was helped by President Obama's Recovery Act.
The owner of an Iowa construction company where Mitt Romney will deliver a speech on the economy received stimulus funds, according to the government's web site that tracks expenditures from the federal program.
Yes, Kinzler Construction Services received a $1.25 million Small Business Administration loan through the stimulus, on top of $650,000 in Obama administration grants and a $40,000 government contract to renovate a government building.
In other words, Romney will condemn the efficacy of the stimulus at a private business that benefited from the stimulus. Shouldn't that undermine Romney's credibility a bit?
What's more, this keeps happening. In August, Romney was desperate to prove that American free enterprise thrives without the support of government, but when he pointed to examples, they all thrived thanks to the support of public institutions and tax dollars. This happened over and over and over and over again, ultimately proving that the entire line of attack was self-defeating.
