Marking 100 days since the RNC issued its post-election “autopsy,” the DNC puts out a video noting how the GOP hasn’t exactly heeded the report.
MASSACHUSETTS: The Boston Globe’s Jim O’Sullivan’s lede: “Senator-elect Edward J. Markey will land in Washington with less fanfare than any Massachusetts senator elected in recent memory, a 1970s holdover who triumphed in a sleepy election with an outcome that seemed foregone nearly from the start.”

In the end, just 1.2 million statewide (1,168,068) cast ballots. In 2010, more than 2.2 million people cast ballots, which was a 54% turnout. So, roughly, that’s less than 30% turnout.
NEW YORK: Anthony Weiner leads in a new NBC-NY/WSJ/Marist poll, 25%-20% over Christine Quinn. Bill Thompson, who recently won the endorsement of the New York teachers’ union is up to 13%, Bill de Blasio trails at 10%, and John Liu behind him at 8%. In a runoff, Quinn would beat Weiner, 44%-42%, but that’s a change from May when Quinn led Weiner by 15, 48%-33%.
TEXAS: The Austin American-Statesman: “Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst returned to the Senate floor at 3:01 a.m., banged the gavel and announced that, ‘regrettably, the constitutional time expired’ on the special session. Senate Bill 5 cannot be signed because it passed after midnight, he said. After making his announcement, Dewhurst paused, then added: ‘It’s been fun, but, uh, see you soon.’ The crowds in the Capitol, loudly cheering early word that the bill had failed, let loose with another rousing cheer when told that it was official. Speaking to reporters afterward, Dewhurst said he was furious about the night’s events. ‘An unruly mob, using Occupy Wall Street tactics, disrupted the Senate from protecting unborn babies,’ he said.”
