It is a truth universally acknowledged that a company in possession of a funny book must be in want of a silly iPad app.
Or something like that.
If nothing else, the above statement seems to ring true with the folks behind "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" — a parody novel which combines Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" with zombie lore — as they've gone ahead and created an interactive version of the book for the iPad.
The Pride and Prejudice and Zombies app will set you back $9 — though it is currently on sale for $5 — and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. (It's worth noting that there should also be an Android version of the app in the future.)
The app is full of whimsical illustrations, animations, and interactive elements. It also contains the original version of the classic plot — Austen's, that is — and you can switch to that by rotating your iPad.

In case you're wondering about the actual reading experience with this app: It's subpar.
Once the novelty of the interactive elements wore off, I began to find the quirky effects annoying and distracting. On top of that, the app seemed to lag when I turned pages using the arrow buttons at the bottom of the screen — in fact, it made my normally speedy iPad 2 feel so slow that even the laziest of zombies would surely run circles around it.
