BREAKING: The White House confirms President Barack Obama telephoned birth control activist Sandra Fluke this afternoon.
She took the call in the in the MSNBC green room.
"He encouraged me and supported me and thanked me for speaking out about the concerns of American women," Fluke said.
She also said he told her to tell her parents they should be proud.
All this comes one day after Fluke's appearance on The Ed Show, responding for the first time on TV to a series of ugly, sexist insults from conservative radio talk host Rush Limbaugh.
The Georgetown Law School student is an advocate of insurance coverage for female contraception.
Rush responded by calling her a “slut” and a “prostitute” on Wednesday and then yesterday demanded that Fluke post sex tapes online so he could watch.
