A Lufthansa flight was forced to return to Munich Tuesday after a passenger threatened flight attendants with a possible razor blade and demanded to be taken back to Germany, officials said.
The incident happened shortly after the Airbus A321 had taken off for Budapest, Hungary.
An unidentified 28-year-old man from Kosovo threatened the crew with a piece of metal "which could possibly be a broken-off razor blade" and demanded that he be taken back "following his extradition from Germany," police officials said.
The police spokesman said the suspect was not drunk and the incident was "solved" by German police officials once the other 75 passengers and five crew had left the plane.
The man remained on board with one flight attendant but was “convinced to give up,” said the spokesman, who denied reports that the plane was stormed by special forces on arrival.
The man was in custody and authorities are were looking into charges that would warrant official arrest on counts of kidnapping, officials said.
One flight attendant had a small cut on one hand, but it could not be certain if this was caused by the suspect.
No other passenger or crew member had any physical injuries "but several people were in shock," officials said.
