The Wall Street Journal reported on Plouffe's MTP appearance ahead of Supreme Court hearings on the law this week: "On the eve of the court arguments, the case was being cast in political tones. White House senior adviser David Plouffe said on NBC's 'Meet the Press' Sunday he was confident the justices would uphold the law." The Los Angeles Times wrote that “White House senior adviser David Plouffe stepped up the administration’s public embrace of its healthcare law” on Sunday, noting that he said on Meet the Press “he would “guarantee” that by the end of the decade ‘we’re going to be glad the Republicans called it Obamacare.’”
Many also highlighted Plouffe’s discussion of Republican candidate Mitt Romney on MTP. USA Today reported, “The White House has coined a new phrase to link Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and health care. ‘Mitt Romney is the godfather of our health care plan,’ said White House senior adviser David Plouffe on NBC's Meet The Press.” Politico and the Wall Street Journal also noted Plouffe’s “godfather” comment.
