* At least 96 killed in Yemen: "Yemen was rocked by its worst terrorist bombing in years on Monday when a suicide attacker disguised as a Yemeni soldier blew himself up in the midst of a military parade rehearsal near the presidential palace in Sana, the capital."
* NATO: "NATO leaders agreed at a critical meeting Monday on a framework for winding down their combat mission in Afghanistan between now and the end of 2014 and made commitments on the length and ambition of their role there long afterward."
* G8: "Leaders of the world's wealthiest nations opened the door Saturday to more government spending in Europe as way to revive the continent's struggling economy, shifting away from the idea that the surest way to recovery was through strict fiscal austerity."
* Thwarted plot: "Three men accused of making Molotov cocktails had been planning to attack President Barack Obama's campaign headquarters, Mayor Rahm Emanuel's home and other targets during this weekend's NATO summit, prosecutors said Saturday."
* On Afghanistan, Obama told reporters over the weekend, "The Afghan war, as we understand, it is over" with the withdrawal of ground forces at the end of 2014.
