Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) was asked yesterday about a possible role on his party's 2012 presidential ticket. "I would have to consider it," he said on Fox News. "But it's not something I'm even thinking about because I think our job in Congress is pretty important."
* The latest evidence the right is grudgingly accepting Mitt Romney's inevitable nomination: Sen. Mike Lee (R) of Utah has announced his support for the former governor.
* On a related note, Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) told reporters on Friday, "I think Mitt Romney is a conservative, and I think if elected, he'll govern as a conservative." Like Lee, Toomey is considered one of the Senate's most hard-right ideologues.
* Details vary, but every estimate shows the Romney campaign and its close allies heavily outspending Rick Santorum's campaign and its allies in Wisconsin. The Badger State's presidential primary is a week from tomorrow.
* Newt Gingrich is asking the RNC to demand loyalty pledges from the remaining presidential hopefuls.
* In Indiana's increasingly interesting Republican U.S. Senate primary, the Club for Growth intends to invest $1.8 million in support of Richard Mourdock. Mourdock is taking on incumbent Sen. Dick Lugar (R).
* A self-imposed ban on corporate cash is making Democratic National Convention fundraising a little more complicated. It is the first major party convention in American history to impose such a prohibition.
* And Herman Cain (remember him?) released a new web video this morning. As best as I can tell, this is not a parody or part of a deliberate effort to make the former presidential candidate appear foolish.
