It’s October and that means debate season. After months of primaries, rallies, fundraisers, and campaign re-starts, in two days the candidates reveal their true colors during the Presidential debates. The first face-to-face encounter is Wednesday evening in Denver. President Obama and Mitt Romney will meet at the University of Denver for a six-topic debate on domestic policy. Each candidate will have 2 minutes to respond to each question followed by 10 minutes of debate.

Romney has fallen in recent polls but could the debates give him a bounce, similar to the one Kerry got in 2004? And can Romney take it a step further and translate a strong debate performance into actual votes come election day?

We spoke to Steve Elmendorf, Democratic Strategist & John Kerry’s Deputy Campaign Manager in 2004, during today’s show.
