Senate Republicans performed an elaborate show of positioning themselves in opposition to Chuck Hagel's appointment to secretary of defense, but a tally of likely votes shows they don't have what it would take to filibuster the confirmation. Republicans inclined to acquiescence might go here while Democrats handle the business of voting.
