Two charges against Chris Brown were dropped on Tuesday, but he's still not off the legal hook.

The R&B star still faces a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge following a May car accident in which he allegedly rear-ended a woman's car at a red light. His attorney, Mark Geragos, entered a not-guilty plea Tuesday on the Brown's behalf. Brown was not in court.

The misdemeanor charges of driving without a valid license and allegedly failing to provide proof of insurance were dismissed by a Van Nuys Superior Court commissioner, according to City News Services.

Despite Brown's insistence that he followed proper protocol after the accident, he still had his probation stemming from his 2009 assault on singer and then-girlfriend Rihanna revoked last week.

The singer will be required to attend his next court hearing, which is set for Aug. 15 at the Van Nuys Courthouse. Brown will be required to attend the hearing. Geragos said that he's hoping to have the hit-and-run charge resolved before the court date, according to CNS. Brown's attorney is also required to show proof that the singer has been formally booked by police by Aug. 6.

The R&B star maintains his innocence in regard to the accident and how he handled the situation. On July 15, the day Judge James Brandlin revoked his probation, Brown took to his Twitter account to air his frustration.

Brown has been on probation since June 2009, after he pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault for his Grammy-night attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna. He was sentenced to five years of probation, community service and ordered to complete a domestic violence program.
