Former President Bill Clinton's plane made an unscheduled landing Wednesday in Tanzania when one of its four engines developed a problem.
The former president was in Tanzania on a tour of projects supported by the nonprofit Clinton Foundation. He was flying from Dar es Salaam to Iringa in central Tanzania when the pilot shut down one of the plane's four propeller engines. The problem wasn't specified, but the plane landed at a fueling station in Dodoma, the capital, where the engine was repaired.
An aide told an NBC News producer accompanying Clinton on the trip that the issue posed no danger. The aide said the pilot followed standard protocol in deciding to land even though the plane could have continued safely on its three other engines.
Once in Iringa, Clinton visited a farm that works with his foundation, viewing examples of soil improvement and hardware before viewing a cornfield. He then visited a school where children oversee a demonstration plot, where he was greeted with "Hi, Mr. President" by the entire group.
