There were tornadoes in the South as a storm system swept through the region Tuesday on its way up the coast towards the Northeast, leaving thousands without power in six states.
Two tornadoes touched down in the Atlanta region in Georgia as the storm system swept through, knocking down trees and power lines, NBC affiliate WXIA reported. There were no reports of fatalities Tuesday, although the same system of storms is being blamed on two deaths that occurred on Monday, when a tornado killed a Marine vet in Arkansas and a falling tree killed a woman in Alabama.
The storms knocked out power throughout the region, with Louisiana and North Carolina hardest-hit, according to The Weather Channel. More than 11,000 customers in Louisiana and another 13,000 in North Carolina lost electricity, and the severe expected to hit the Northeast Wednesday, the channel reported.
