Severe thunderstorms were threatening to trigger dangerous flash floods from the Plains to the Great Lakes with more severe weather predicted in the High Plains and Texas Panhandle, meteorologists warned Monday. While the risk of tornadoes was lower than last week, large hail, damaging winds, flooding rains, and dangerous lightning was set to carry on from Sunday in the north-central Plains from Minnesota and Iowa to west-central Kansas and eastern Colorado, according to The Weather Channel.

A week of torrential rainfall has put South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri at risk for flooding and have caused the Missouri River to rise substantially, according to weather.com. "Any additional heavy rainfall over this region will quickly runoff, leading to additional flash flooding of fields, roads, and rises on area rivers and streams," the weather service said.
