Parts of Kentucky already saw baseball-sized hail on Saturday night, leading to thousands of power outages. At least 32,000 customers in the state were in the dark at the height of the storm, according to electric companies.
The collection of storms could progress to the mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Monday, but tornadic activity was not expected in those areas, according to the National Weather Service. Meanwhile, in the Southwest and Rockies, "monsoonal" weather was expected Sunday afternoon through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The downpours could cause flash flooding in New Mexico and Colorado through midweek, Weather Channel Meteorologist Michael Palmer warned.
